Politics and religion. The two things you are not supposed to discuss in the work place. This is because they offer the most controversy. Wars have been waged over them. When you mix the two, you usually always get problems, so of course that is exactly what I am going to do now.

What does Jesus and politics have in common? For a Christian, these two things are what drives our day to day. We are always making our decisions based on is it legal by the law of the land and is it legal by the law of God. The issue arises however, in that the two do not always coincide. You can see it in your day to day lives. Everything is becoming more and more anti-God. Why is this? Why is everything in modern society so against our Lord and Savior? As always, the answer lies in scripture.

"For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the Heavenly places." (Ephesians 6:12) Jesus tells us that the Earth is Satan's to give as he is the "ruler of this world" as stated in John 12:31. This is why it seems like everywhere you look everything you see aims to deter what the bible teaches. Mass media, governments, and culture is filled with, sometimes subliminal and sometimes obvious, messages to convince people to stray away from biblical lifestyles for lifestyles that glorify that which is Satanic.

The first one is the acceptance of the LBGT movement. I agree that everyone deserves respect no matter the sin but respect and acceptance are different. You can respect someone while also disagreeing and condemning their actions. I could give you countless sources in scripture from both the Old and New Testaments that condemn homosexuality and transgenderism. Three that standout however are Leviticus 18:22, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, and 1 Corinthians 12:18. These cover the LBGT movement well among many other verses one can cite. It is clear that every man and woman was created exactly how God intended us to be and for one another. Every soul has a masculine and feminine counterpart and we are destined to be rejoined together under God through marriage. That is why sex outside of marriage is so dangerous; because when you are sexually intimate with someone, your souls intertwine with one another and attempt to rejoin with one another into one. you become one body in Christ with everyone you have sexual relations with. That is the danger of not only homosexuality, but fornication. You and your soulmate are puzzle pieces that were made to fit together. You do not fit with anyone else, especially someone of the same gender as you. Also, you were made a man or a woman for a reason. God created you as a man because you hold the masculine component of your shared soul with your partner, and that is vice versa if you are a woman. You play an important role within your familial unit and it is an abrasion to Gods plan for your life if you make the choice to receive gender "affirming" surgery. What it really is is the Spirit of Sin convincing you to mutilate your body to destroy what God created for you. How it happens is we are exposed to the sin and, whether we engage in it or not, It takes a small root within us. From there it grows, the more we are exposed to it and engage in it the deeper it becomes rooted within until it eventually becomes part of who we are. The greater the exposure, the more likely we are to model the behavior we see. That is why it is being pushed and flaunted everywhere we see. The more it is presented as a norm and accepted, the greater the likelihood of it being imprinted upon you so that you yourself start to see it as a norm.

Why is it then that God is allowing this to happen? Why aren't the Devil worshiping leaders of society being cast down? Everyone has free will and it would be against God's own convictions to force anyone to believe in him and follow his commands. God allows tribulations and temptations because it strengthens our faith and love for God. If someone is in any sort of leadership role, it is because God has allowed it to happen whether he agrees with their leadership or not. "Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes form God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished. For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honor you. The authorities are God's servants, sent for your good, but if you are doing wrong of course you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God's servants for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong. So you must submit to them, not only to avoid punishment, but also keep a clear conscience. Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. they are serving God in what they do. Give to everyone what you owe them: pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority." (Romans 13:1-7 NLT) Paul is clearly not talking about tyrannical governments however.

So long as a government holds God and his commandments as their highest standard, they are to be honored. Peter states in the book of Acts: "..."We must must obey God rather than any human authority."" (Acts 5:29 NLT) If a government goes against what they most high dictates, we are within our permissions to set their standards to the side in favor of God's standards. It is like what Jesus himself said: "...Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God." (Matthew 21:21 NLT) we are called to preach the Good News and defend our faith against anyone or anything that would aim to deter it or destroy it. We must also remember God is just and fair, and no one will get off without punishment when they are tyrannical to those under them. "He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars." (Daniel 2:21 NLT) Even when those who are tyrannical beat down on you, you should be patient and stay faithful to the Lord for he will deliver you every time. In the book of Titus; we are called to do just this: "Remind them to be obedient and submissive to rulers and authorities, and to be ready for every work that is good." (Titus 3:1 NLT)

God will deliver us from our oppressors when the time is right and will signal us when it is our time to be delivered, so long as we rely on him. He did this many times with the nation of Israel, most notably when they were delivered from slavery to Egypt. Many would argue that we should fight back against those who oppress us, I find it ironic facing I write this on July 4th and live in the United States. I have to argue that our only way of fighting against this kind of tyranny and oppression is to share the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to fight hate with love. Share the truth that our Lord and Savior gave to us and remember this verse: "Don't let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good." (Romans 12:21 NLT)
